Giant apple from Harthausen: over 532 grams and still sour!

Harthausen, Deutschland - in Harthausen, in the middle of a flowering orchard, Elke and Bernhard Sona have made an extraordinary discovery. As they carried out their apple harvest, Elke Sona fell a view of a particularly large apple that hung high up in the branches of one of their apple trees. With skill and a little luck, she managed to get the plump fruit body down, which was so big that he just fit into the basket of the apple harvest.

This bright red apple immediately caught the eye and woke up the curiosity with the sonas. While the other apples of the tree were only a fist-sized, this giant apple showed impressive dimensions, with a circumference of almost 36 centimeters-almost as large as the head of a newborn baby. They wandered the fruit curiously later and the result was amazing: the apple brought 532 grams on the scales.

a huge apple with a surprise

Although the exact age and the variety of the apple remained unclear, Elke Sona was sure that it could be an old apple variety. Usually the sonas use their harvest to press delicious juice in Wiesloch, but this time they decided to try the extraordinary apple themselves. "Although he was huge, he didn't like it," reports Elke with a laugh. "He was very angry, we should probably have stored a little more before we eat it."
