Inclusion soccer tournament: Frankenthal is fighting prejudices!
Frankenthal, Deutschland - The countdown is running! At the end of November, Frankenthal transformed into the center of inclusion in football. The 1st Frankenthal School Cup promises inclusion to smash prejudices and clichés with every goal. But so far only five out of ten possible schools have confirmed their participation!
Matthias Formanski, teacher of the Albert Schweitzer School, has worked hard since the past school year to organize this event on November 27th. "I experienced prejudices between schools and wanted to counteract it," he explains. The school cup is aimed at all secondary schools, including special schools, but so far only the Albert Schweitzer School, the Augustin Violet School, the Tom-Mutters School, the integrated comprehensive school Robert Schuman and the Carolinen high school are in the race. Formanski is disappointed with the sluggish feedback and suspects that the schools are overloaded with administrative tasks, which could cloud enthusiasm for sport.
unique challenges on the square
But the event will definitely take place! Each participating school will put a team that consists of ten students and a teacher who acts as a Trainer. "In order to promote the idea of inclusion, we mix the schools in the schools," says Formanski. With special challenges that are introduced during the game, the "Gamechanger Edition" will offer the audience, including 30 students per school, exciting entertainment. "The goal is fun and the community should be strengthened," explains the sports teacher. At the Albert Schweitzer School, you know about the positive effects of sport and are already implementing various sporting initiatives.
But not only the number of participants prepares formanski headaches. The upcoming renovation work in the city sports hall also significantly influences the planning. It remains to be seen whether the hall has been completed by the tournament or whether the Peter Trump Hall has to be used as an alternative location, which would be a disadvantage without a grandstand. Despite these challenges, the teacher remains optimistic that he can still convince the city administration to support this important event.
