Heavy load on B261: Trucker saves itself from brake fire!

A dramatic scenario unfolded on the B261 today when the brakes of a saddle train overheat while driving from Denzerheide to the lower Arenberger Straße. The curvy and steep route turned out to be a real challenge for heavy traffic, and the smoking trailer made the random observers believe that he was already in flames!

The driver, reacting quickly, stopped his vehicle in the Arenberger Straße/Koblenzer Straße intersection and gripped the fire extinguisher. But before the onlookers were able to alert the fire brigade, unexpected help came: Lutz Willig, a building yard employee, was on site with his sweeper and immediately used the high -pressure cleaner to cool the overheated brakes. Thanks to his quick action, worse could be prevented!

an unexpected detour

In a short conversation with 56 -aktually, the Romanian trucker revealed that on the way to the Zschimmer & Schwarz chemical company in Lahnstein, he unnecessarily took the detour via the B49 and the B261. His navigation device showed the Lahnsteiner Hochbrücke as blocked, which brought him into the predicament. After this dangerous experience, he decided to turn in the Kastellbad district and to take the way back over the freshly reopened Lahnhochbrücke. A brave step that hopefully will give him a safe onward journey!
