New trainer cooling wants the first victory with EC Bergisch Land!
Solingen. After five and a half years, the paths of coach Ralf Alberts and the team separated. Kai Kühlem, previously assistant coach, was asked if he could take responsibility. "After consulting my wife, I agreed," explains Kühlem. On Friday at 8:15 p.m. against the Dinslakener Kobras, the first victory should jump out under his leadership!
But that's not all! Cooling has no official coaching license and works with a special permit. "I will do the course next August," says the 44-year-old, who was still on the ice two years ago. "I didn't want to let the team down," he adds, while preparing for the challenge to get the team from his low point.
Cooling brings fresh wind into training
Cooling has already changed the training to bring a breath of fresh air to the team. "The separation of Alberts was necessary to set a new impulse," he explains. Despite a 4: 6 defeat against Bergkamen and a narrow 2: 3 against Bergisch Gladbach in the last games, he remains optimistic. "We lost the last game in the last five minutes, it was fighting," emphasizes Kühlem. He is convinced: "If we appear against Dinslaken on Friday, we will win!"
