First Neustädter Thanksgiving market: A festival of regional diversity!

In Neustadt, the first Thanksgiving market opened its gates and attracted numerous visitors. The market started with a word service that was led by Pastor Ulrich Gruber. A celebration was originally planned, but Deacon Theo Marget had to cancel at short notice because he was ill. Last Saturday there was no reason for sadness: Mayor Sebastian Giering ceremoniously opened the market and taped the first barrel from a local beer. Thanks to the exhibitors and the Neustädter Faschingsverein, which was significantly involved in the organization of the event.

In the parking lot in front of the town hall, a total of 40 providers have built up their stands, which primarily come from the region. The original space in front of the town hall was not sufficient, which shows how great the interest of exhibitors in this event was. Julia Fienz from the city administration, who acted as chief organizer, expressed her joy about it.

A wide range of regional products

The variety of products on the market was impressive. From handmade articles made of wood, sound and wool to culinary delights such as spices, liqueur and oils, there was something for everyone. Visitors were also able to learn more about agriculture and forestry, which added an educational aspect of the market. At the KS Landservice booth, visitors were able to try their luck on the wheel of fortune, with some even rewarded with a flower stick. The status of the Weiden beekeeping association, which gave interesting insights into the world of bees, was particularly vividly.

There were different beer table sets for the visitors, even if the weather was a bit fresh, which made a short snack out of the open for many. Nevertheless, the rain clouds failed to materialize, and the sun showed up again and again what contributed to the good mood. Many visitors flocked onto the market, especially in the afternoon, and the wide range ensured a lot.

Musically, the Thanksgiving market was also well framed. Various musical groups, including the city chapel Neustadt and the accordion orchestra, entertained the audience throughout the market. The children from the St. Martin kindergarten also contributed to the festive atmosphere with their appearances and received great applause.

The culinary care was taken over by the Neustädter Faschingsverein, which offered coffee and cake, while other providers provided rustic things such as Wildgoulasch and Dutsch (a traditional dish). The freshly baked bread laibes, which were prepared by the vigilante in the wood oven and were sold out in the first hour, were particularly popular.

The Thanksgiving market is not only a new highlight in the event calendar of Neustadt, but also an answer to the fact that the established farmers market only takes place every three years. This time on the site around the town hall, the market aims to offer regional producers a platform and at the same time bring visitors closer to the variety of local products. In the end, organizers and exhibitors were very satisfied with the premiere of this new market. The positive response from visitors gives hope that this Thanksgiving market could be a long -term tradition in Neustadt.
