New talents for care: 60 trainees start at St. Marien!
On October 1, 2024, 60 new trainees started their three-year training in nursing at the nursing school of the St. Marien- und St. Annastift Hospital in Ludwigshafen. The high number of registrations speaks for the attractiveness of this training center and the team's efforts to continuously improve the training conditions. This year, 40 trainees chose general care training, while 20 have chosen the profession of operating assistant.
Due to the large number of applications, the school management, led by Monika Heuvelmann, decided to open two more courses with 20 participants in addition to the existing OTA course. This shows the great upswing that generalistic care training has experienced. "We are very pleased about the opportunity to offer an additional course, which now opens up a total of 61 places in training," said Jürgen Will, authorized signatory and head of administrative management, and described the new trainees as the colleagues of tomorrow.expanded opportunities for trainees
In order to ensure the international trainees a pleasant living and work situation, a flat share was set up near the St. Annastift children's home. This initiative significantly increases the attractiveness of the training at the St. Marien- und St. Annastift Hospital and shows the school's commitment to welcome applicants from abroad.
The new course participants are intensively supported by experienced practice instructors and nurses in the St. Marienkrankenhaus and St. Annastiftkrankenhaus during their practical training. In addition, there are numerous options available to gain experience in various long -term care facilities. This is particularly important in order to bring the bonding of the profession closer to the prospective nurses and to optimally prepare them for their future tasks.
Digital tools are also used in training to support prospective nurses as best as possible for various cultural backgrounds. This shows the endeavor of teachers to meet the modern requirements of care and to create an inclusive learning environment.
The nursing school also offers numerous other training paths in addition to training as a nursing specialist. This includes health and nursing aids, medical technology for radiology, medical assistants, a combination of training and studying in the applied health and nursing sciences as well as the dual bachelor's degree in midwife science.
The combination of a long tradition and modern teaching methods, including the use of virtual reality, ensures that the nursing school of the St. Marien and St. Annastift Hospital is always up to date. The school has been working in the Bildungszentrum für Pfalz in Dessauer Straße for five years and has replaced the conventional chalk tables with smartboards and other contemporary teaching aids.
