The October Kerwe in Kaiserslautern, a folk festival that took place from October 18 to 28, once again lured hundreds of thousands to the Barbarossast city! Between 155,000 and 160,000 visitors flocked to the exhibition center, where the family day on October 23 shone with most guests. Together with a determined police presence, the municipal enforcement service ensured that the celebrations were safe.

The police also take a very positive balance! "From the police point of view, the Kerwe was very peaceful," said Steffen Kroll, head of the old town center. Over 100 personal checks, including 53 of children and adolescents, were carried out. Only seven crimes such as assault and embezzlement had to be recorded. The result? The city administration was also satisfied. In weddings, up to ten officials of the municipal enforcement service patrolled, partly in civilian, to control compliance with cannabis and weapon ban. Werner Schmidt, head of the enforcement service, confirms: "There were fewer violations compared to the Maikerwe!" The smell perception of cannabis was rare, and only an administrative offense was found in a 16-year-old who was caught with a small cannabis supply. Another highlight: With the help of the "emergency island" set up, a lost child could be handed over to his mother again unscathed. A success across the board for the October Kerwe!
