Citizens' initiative Betzenberg: Competition for new residential area decided!
Kaiserslautern, Deutschland - A big step for the Betzenberg! On Monday, the building committee set the course for the development of an impressive 14 hectare area south of the legendary Fritz Walter stadium with a clear decision. A realization competition is launched, and the Betzenberg (BI) citizens' initiative is cheering: "This is the result we wanted," explains Reinhard Schüler, the spokesman for BI. This initiative, which is mainly borne by residents of the Betzenberg, has tirelessly campaigned for this solution over the year.
"The Betzenberg is world famous. There you have to do something that has external impact," emphasizes Schüler and highlights the special location of the area. The city plans to create a mixture of up to 490 apartments and commercial real estate. The plans already presented in April also include a daycare center and a NILS project. The unanimous decision of the building committee shows that civic engagement actually has an effect. Student is convinced: "This is a great success for us!"
