Reading competition at the Goethe-Gymnasium: Talents inspire with stories!

Germersheim, Deutschland - On December 5, 2024, an exciting reading competition for the 6th grades took place in the library of the Goethe-Gymnasium Germersheim. The students had previously qualified in their classes and now competed against each other in a gripping school winning title competition. The readers delighted the listeners with expressive readings from their favorite books, including works by Katja Brandis and Max Lucado. Dominik Unkelbach from class 6a was finally named school winner, while Emma Deusch (6e) secured second place. All participants who were tested in a jury, consisting of last year's winner and other members, received insightful book prices that were made possible by the commitment of the support association and the Hilbert University Bookstore, such as Pfalz-Express reported.

This event, which not only promoted the reading skills of the students, but also strengthened the sense of community in the school club, took place as part of the school social work of the Goethe-Gymnasium. This is carried out at the facility as an independent offer on a voluntary basis and offers support in conflict and stressful situations. The school social worker, Ann-Christin Keller, is available to the students, teachers and parents for individual discussions and also supports group activities in order to develop specific solutions for challenges. The reading competition is not only a platform for literary talent, but also promotes the development of social skills and exchange within the school. Dominik Unkelbach will represent the Goethe-Gymnasium in the next round of the reading competition in early 2025, which is another exciting step for young talents.
