Rülzheim, Deutschland - Dirk Laux from Rülzheim is an enthusiastic collector of soccer collectors, especially Panini. Among his treasures is a coveted rookie sticker by Lionel Messi from the 2006 World Cup, when Messi entered the big football stage as a newcomer at the age of 18. Laux only collects Panini stickers from World and European Championships and can proudly show all World Cup collection albums from 1974 to 2022. He also collected the European Championship albums by 2021.

A drop of bitterness remains: Laux regrets that Panini was not allowed to get out of a collective album for the 2024 EM 2024 because the UEFA sold the image rights to tops. In his opinion, the stickers of tops are of less quality, and he criticizes that many top stars are not licensed. For the 2026 World Cup, Panini, on the other hand, has already announced a new album, which at Laux is looking forward to great anticipation.

World Cup 2022 and the Panini embroidery collection

The World Cup in Qatar, which started on November 20 at the Al-Bavt Stadium and ended on December 18, was a big event in which 32 national teams qualified. The Argentine national team won the tournament, and Lionel Messi was celebrated as an outstanding player. Millions of football fans worldwide followed the tournament, and Panini published an official embroidery collection for the World Cup.

This sticker collection includes prominent players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane. There was also a DFB bundle with 27 stickers from the German national team in the new jersey. Among other things, collectors were able to purchase a 120 box with 120 embroidery bags, whereby each box contained a bonus pack with two rare extra stickers. There are a total of 20 different extra stickers in four color variants-burgundy, bronze, silver and gold. In addition, a limited DFB Treasure Box with 2,022 copies was offered, which contains a hardcover album and 100 embroidery bags. This treasure box includes exclusive DFB trading cards, some of them in limited and numbered variants, with the possibility to acquire autographs.
