Fruit fountain in Landau: Finally after thefts!

Kreishaus, 76829 Landau, Deutschland - A sad sight was the "fruit fountain" in front of the district house in Landau after two brutal thefts had exposed the bronze fruits. At first the shiny pear disappeared, followed by the sculptures of a nut and three grape berries. The district administration was forced to file a criminal complaint, but the perpetrators remained unknown. But now there is reason to be happy: the fountain shines in full shine again! On Wednesday, the talented employees of the Pfeifer art foundry installed the missing parts in Stadtallendorf - and that theft -proof as possible!

To prevent future damage caused by vandalism and theft, live video surveillance has been set up. A vehicle crane was used to safely place the new bronze fruits. The Eberhard and Barbara Linke Foundation supported the district in the restoration after the original forms were no longer fully present. The artists Carmen Stahlschmidt and Rob Jansen reconstructed the shapes and even waived their fee. As a thank you, District Administrator Dietmar Seefeldt offered to exhibit her works in the district house.

The "Frukte Brunnen", a masterpiece by Professor Eberhard Linke from Saulheim, was set up in the summer of 1983 and symbolizes the frequently occurring fruits in the Region. After the thefts in September 2022 and March 2023, the restoration of the fountain is a significant step to preserve the cultural identity of the southern wine road. The district administrator expressed gratefully: "We thank you very much for the support and are glad that our, Früchte-Brunnen is now completely reconstructed."
