Imsbach plans to reopen the white pit: family attraction in sight!
Imbach, Deutschland - A dramatic comeback is imminent! The white pit in the mining world of Imsbach, which has been closed to visitors in 2018 in 2018, could soon be experienced. Geologist Jost Haneke leads through the dark tunnels and points to the rubble that blocks access - here the rock broke. But the municipality of Imsbach is determined to release the pit again and is planning big steps!
Mayor Oliver Krupp (CDU) and committed volunteers have submitted an application for funding from the EU-wide "Leader" program. The planned construction work, which amounts to around 230,000 euros, provide for supporting the collapsed tunnel at the entrance and modernizing the electrical system and water-pumping technology. A 17 meter long vault is to be built for this. The hope for an early reopening of the White Pitch is tangible and preparations are in full swing!
new attractions planned for families!
But that's not all! The volunteers of the Imsbach association and the Palatinate Mining Museum have even more in their luggage: a mining experience playground is supposed to attract families! A new adventure is created with swings, slides and special mine play equipment. The Winnweiler Association supports the project and takes on part of the costs.
The anticipation is huge! On adventure days, up to 160 visitors flock into the smaller pits, and expectations increase with the view of the white pit. If the EU funding is approved, construction work could begin next year. Imsbach faces an exciting future in mining tourism!
