Peace days in Kirchheimbolanden: light for 250,000 victims inflamed
A moving sign for peace! On Friday, the 50th peace days were opened in Kirchheimbolanden with an impressive tour. At the war memorial in Neumayerstrasse, 50 peace lights shone, which were symbolically supported by the participants to significant places in the city. These lights are said to remind the shattering 250,000 victims who lost their lives in the last year alone through global fighting. An urgent appeal to humanity!
A call to terminate wars
Norbert Willenbacher, the spokesman for the Working Group on Friedenstage, spoke in his moving speech about the enormous expenditure for military purposes that are almost $ 2.5 trillion worldwide-that is almost twice compared to 20 years ago! He made it clear that about a quarter of mankind suffered from the devastating consequences of regional conflicts, while estimated 120 million people are fleeing. "War is the central cause of flight worldwide," said Willenbacher, who urged to urge existing wars and to eliminate the causes of new conflicts. "Every war is a crime. Permanent peace is only possible without weapons."
The emotional tour led the participants at ten different stations, where texts were read by different speakers and peace candles were set up. The musicians Timo Zühlke and Steffen Schlösser accompanied the event with well -known melodies from the peace movement. The two-kilometer tour of the commemorative tour found its crowning glory at the Paulskirche and left a lasting impression of hope and solidarity.
