TSV Lohr defeats Birkenfeld 4: 0 and stays in the title race!

In the dramatic district league top game, TSV Lohr defeated SV Birkenfeld on Sunday with an impressive 4: 0 (2-0). This victory was particularly important because Lohr returned to the bitter 0: 3 defeat in the first leg and thus holds the connection to the league leaders. Coach Christian Graf celebrated after the game and emphasized: "We were lucky and were rehabilitated." Before the game, he had urged to finally show a better performance against the leaders.

The game quickly took a turn that the birch fields had not expected. A serious own goal of Pascal Wolfram brought Lohr in the lead in the 17th minute when his missed back pass slipped into goalkeeper Julian Konrad into his own network. Just three minutes later, the misfortune for Birkenfeld did not want to end: Ege Celiker fled the ball into the goal after a free kick, and it was 2-0 for the hosts. Even if the guests initially had a good start, they did not find a remedy against the strongly defending Lohr team.

Lohr prevails - Birkenfeld remains under pressure

In the second section, Lohr pulled the game itself. With a dream goal by Manuel Englert in the 69th minute, the decision had been made practically. Julian Genheimer sealed the clear 4-0 in the 87th minute with a header. On the other hand, the frustration with coach Benedikt Strohmenger was great: "We had a raven -black day," he described the defeat of his team, which could not show the hoped -for performance. While SV Birkenfeld only has one point ahead of SV Kürnach, the TSV Lohr stays on the top of the ranking in the promotion race.
