Wittlich, Deutschland - Wittlich. Young musicians and music enthusiasts experienced an exciting weekend at the annual band camp of the music school in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district. On October 12th and 13th, 2024, numerous participants met in the vocational school in Wittlich to improve their skills in the field of rock and pop under professional guidance. The aim of the camp is to give interested musicians the opportunity to play together in a band and to file their musical skills with experienced teachers.

Three bands were part of the event this year. Under the leadership of lecturers Ingo Esch, Heiko Wilhelmus and Bernd Jakob, the participants received valuable tips and support. There were two of the bands in advance, while the third group only collapsed this weekend. The new band began to study their first songs on Saturday afternoon, including "Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele and "Diamonds" by Rihanna. Various instruments and vocal lines were tried out, drumgrooves tested and new guitar chords were learned.

The existing band "Music Gang 23" mastered a special challenge, which consists of talented young people aged 11 to 14 years. The group expanded its repertoire with new pieces such as "Zombie" by The Cranberries and "Learn to Fly" from the Foo Fighters. The third volume, Desert Rock Kids, brought her many years of experience. This inclusive rock band, which is part of the DRK social work Bernkastel-Wittlich, celebrated its 22-year existence this weekend and delivered impressive performances.

The intensive rehearsal work on the band camp made it possible for members of each group not only to get to know the pieces better, but also to inspire each other. Already on Sunday morning, after an extensive rehearsal period, the audience received a final concert in the BBS entrance hall, which delighted everyone present. The variety of performed pieces ensured a rousing atmosphere.

The commitment and progress of the participants were recognized equally by the teachers and the audience. Many young talents showed impressive skills and demonstrated that they developed enormously during the camp.
