Hikers collect 1,183 euros for people with cancer in Grünberg!

On December 28, 2024, a donation hike for German Cancer Aid took place at Grünberger Marktplatz. A total of 32 hikers and 2 dogs took part in the event under the organizer Karin Rühl. In sunny weather, blue sky and temperatures around freezing, four stages around Grünberg were covered.

The hike started with a first stop after 4 kilometers at the train station in Göbelnrod. Further stations included a playground in Saasen and Lindenstruth as well as a bow via Reinhardshain. After about 24 kilometers and a hiking time of 5 hours and 48 minutes, the participants returned to Grünberg. A second group of long -distance hikers, consisting of Jörg Brindl, Ulrich Wilhelm, Silja Römer, Karin Rühl and another participant, chose a route through Lumda, Atzenhain and Lehnheim. This group arrived in Grünberg an hour earlier than planned.

charity hike and collected donations

During the hike, a total of 200 euros were collected, and by December 31, 2024, the online account already counted 1,183 euros in donations. Rühl also announced a next event: a donation hike for flood victims, which will be led from Lollar-Odenhausen to Ahrweiler on January 17 and 18, 2025.

In addition, various media reported on another benefit hike, which was also organized by Karin Rühl. This hike led over 52 kilometers to support the Grünberg Tafel and also started at Grünberger Marktplatz. Around 40 participants were there and had the freedom to choose their own distance and to get into the hike at different points. Rühl celebrated her 52nd birthday that day and had chosen personal meaning for the route because she wanted to recover from a Corona infection.

The hike included two loops: the first led via Queckborn, Münster, Wetterfeld, Laubach and back to the market square, followed by a second bow via Weickartshain, Stockhausen and Merlau. It was Rühl's goal to also collect short -term donations, for which she had a donation box. Rühl had successfully organized donation hikes in the past to support flood victims in the Ahr Valley.
