IDAR-Oberstein receives 140,000 euros from the federal-state program "Social cohesion-Social City". This funding is part of the continuous support of the state and the federal government, which has provided a total of around one million euros for the funding area since 2018.

The funds provided should serve to develop the southern city center. Planned measures include the expansion of the parking lot at the hallway school, the creation of play and leisure areas in the neighborhood, as well as the support of private modernizations and neighborhood management. In addition, an upgrading of the railway underpass on the official road/Jahnstrasse is planned. The aim of these initiatives is to create additional movement areas for children and adolescents and to improve accessibility.
