On March 25, 2025, there were a number of serious traffic accidents in Wels, Upper Austria, in which several young drivers with speed overlaps of over 60 km/h were noticed. The police found several traffic laws that had the consequences for the drivers responsible within almost two hours.

At 9:18 p.m., the officials stopped a 19-year-old test guide owner who was on the B137 at a speed of 131 km/h, although only 70 km/h are allowed. His driver's license was temporarily decreased and it was displayed several times. Just a few hours later, at 11:30 p.m., the police stopped a 20-year-old test manager from Lower Austria, who even drove on the same route at 135 km/h. The electronic driver's license was also taken digitally and an advertisement was followed.

These incidents reflect a worrying tendency in traffic safety. Despite the high standards in traffic safety, such as existing in Germany, for example, where extensive measures are taken to minimize the risk of accident, there are still numerous traffic accidents.
