Protest against AfD: Marzahn stands up for a colorful coexistence!

On Wednesday, January 8th, a planned protest against a rally of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) will take place in front of the Eastgate at the Marzahn S-Bahn station. The event, which begins at 3:30 p.m., is organized by the open Antifa meeting Marzahn-Hellersdorf and occurs under the motto "Stop right propaganda!" on. The protesters want to position themselves against "neo-Nazis and the AfD" and point out the success of the AfD in past elections in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district. In addition, reference is made to new neo -Nazi youth networks that present themselves in the region as supporters of the AfD. The organizers expect that local neo-Nazis and members of the Höcke wing will be present at the AfD rally, and call on numerous participation in order to counteract neo-Nazis, such as the Berliner Zeitung reported.

In a further incident in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district, there were already tensions between the right and left demonstrators. On Saturday, both groups demonstrated in the region, with the police reporting numerous arrests and violent incidents. A total of 39 people were temporarily arrested. About 100 people took part in the neo-Nazi demonstration "Against Linkspropaganda and Lies of Antifa", while the left demo died under the motto "Patriarchate-fighting anti-fascists" took place with up to 1,300 participants. The police secured both events with almost 300 emergency services. There were several attacks during the clashes, including a journalist was attacked on the edge of the neo-Nazi elevator.
