In Germany, around five million people in need of care live, and a significant part of them, about 28.5 percent, has the level of care 3. Most of them, around 80 percent, are looked after by relatives at home and are entitled to care allowance. But how much money are you actually entitled to?

From January 1, 2024, the care allowance for people with care degrees 3 will be increased by five percent! Instead of 545 euros, they now receive 573 euros per month. This sum is usually paid out on the first working day of the month and can be used as desired. Over 809,000 people benefit from this increase, which represents important financial support for people in need of care.

But that's not all! A further increase of 4.5 percent is already planned for 2025, which could raise the care allowance to around 598 euros. This shows that the government takes the needs of those in need of care seriously and continuously works on improvements.

Combination performance: What does that mean for care degrees 3?

For those who are supervised by both relatives and an outpatient care service, there is the possibility of combination performance. Here, the care allowance is paid out proportionally, depending on the amount of the care benefits used. Around 322,000 people with care level 3 use this option that enables flexible and needs -based support.
