Collective agreement: Higher training allowances for NRW guest industry from 2024!

A groundbreaking step for the trainees in the hospitality industry! Minister of Labor Karl-Josef Laumann declared the new training collective agreement, which was negotiated by Dehoga North Rhine-Westphalia and the NGG North Rhine-Westphalia, to be generally binding on August 1, 2024. This means that the training allowances in the catering trade are increasing significantly from the new training year - and this by 150 euros per year!

in detail: In the first year of training there is now 1,150 euros, 1,250 euros in the second year and 1,350 euros in the third year. But that's not all! After a year, on August 1, 2025, the remuneration will be increased again by 50 euros. The collective agreement has a term of 24 months and applies to all 6,600 trainees in the hotel and restaurants in North Rhine-Westphalia. This means that companies that have not yet been bound to the tariff have to adhere to these new remuneration.

important measures against a shortage of skilled workers

"In times of decreasing tariff binding, the general verbilitation declaration is an important instrument," emphasizes Laumann. The new, higher remuneration should make training in the hospitality more attractive and help to counteract the impending shortage of skilled workers. Finally, it is clear: Without sufficient trainees, the situation in the hotel and hospitality industry will be even more critical in the future.

In 2022, around 294,000 people were employed in over 47,000 companies in the North Rhine-Westphalian hospitality industry. These new regulations could be crucial to make the industry future -proof!
