Wermelskirchen tackles: Citizens collect garbage for a clean city!

Wermelskirchen. Garbage in the city is a hot topic! There are always dirty corners, especially on old glass and paper containers that bring citizens to the palm. The traffic and beautification association (VVV) has now found a solution for the hard-working garbage collectors who tirelessly collect the waste in their environment. "You do this all year round as needed, without much sensation and without any financial support, which deserves the greatest respect," explains Chairman Dankmar Stolz.

But despite the honorable commitment, there were problems with the disposal of the collected garbage. The city administration has so far not been able to help, which proudly finds understandable. "It must not be that the collectors have to overwhelm their private residual waste bins or dispose of the garbage at their own expense," said proudly. But now there is light at the end of the tunnel! A cooperation with the Bergisch Waste Management Association (BAV) enables the collected garbage bags to be placed next to the regular residual waste bin and are disposed of free of charge.

Cooperation with waste association and city

The VVV now distributes garbage bags to the collectors who have to register to avoid abuse. "We know from many who regularly free certain areas from the garbage. There are a lot of people who do this completely unselfishly and without any recognition," emphasizes proudly. This campaign will not only make the city cleaner, but also appreciate the commitment of the citizens.

Another highlight is imminent: On April 5, 2025, the 50th action "Clean City" will take place! The VVV is already planning many surprises and hopes for a lively participation of clubs, companies and schools. "Practical support for political institutions would certainly underline credibility in the local election campaign," said proudly. Wermelskirchen, on the cleanliness!
