Keller fire in Kippenkausen: Fire brigade saves residents from having a risk of smoke!

On Tuesday afternoon, the Bergisch Gladbach fire brigade was called to a basement fire in a single-family series house in the Kippekausen district. The emergency call reached the fire and rescue control center of the Rheinisch-Bergische Kreis around 12:40 p.m. The caller made it clear that there were still people in the building, which immediately put the emergency services on alert.

Four fire trucks, the operational management service as well as two ambulances and an emergency medical vehicle were immediately sent to the fire site in Burgstrasse. The situation on site was tense: when the fire brigade arrived, it turned out that the building was heavily smoky. Fortunately, the residents had already been able to get to safety in good time.

fire fighting and neighboring houses

The emergency services under respiratory protection immediately went into the basement to locate the stove of the fire and combat the flames. In the meantime, the adjacent houses were also checked. A significant carbon monoxide concentration was found in a neighboring house. In order to rule out a threat to the neighbors, the firefighters used ventilation devices to pay the dangerous gas.

The extinguishing work quickly showed success: the fire stove was found in the house's laundry room. At 1:50 p.m. the fire brigade was finally able to report "fire". Despite the fast and efficient reaction of the emergency services, the affected residential building was now so badly damaged by fire smoke that it is temporarily uninhabitable. The residents have temporarily found accommodation.

A total of 41 firefighters with 15 vehicles were involved in the operation. The Bergisch Gladbach fire brigade mastered the situation quickly, and around 2:30 p.m. the site was handed over to the police. Attention was in particular the security of the residents because the adjacent kindergarten was not at risk.

For the Bergisch Gladbach fire brigade, this was further proof of their operational readiness and professionalism in critical situations.
