Hans-Dieter Kahrl: Last wedding ceremony in Burscheid-a farewell full of memories

Burscheid. On October 26th, Hans-Dieter Kahrl will be honored again and act as a registrar! In the charming Lambertmühle, he will give several bridal couples the yes word, and not without reason. During his active time as a mayor and beyond, he conquered the hearts of many couples. He has managed more than 245 weddings since 1999, a real master of his field!

"Why am I doing that?" Asks the 79-year-old. "I often helped out when there was a shortage of staff. The encouragement of the couples and old acquaintances motivated me." Through personal contacts, he has become a popular face in the registry office of the city of Burscheid. Kaleidoscope of the emotions: whether they were happy couples or even same -sex partnerships, every wedding was a very special event for him.

a farewell full of memories

The memories are numerous and shine in bright colors. "At every wedding I looked into the bright faces, and there has never been a 'no'!" Kahrl smiles. He has always prepared personal speeches, often after exchange with the couples or their parents. "I can only reproduce the emotions because I know people. It's a matter close to the heart," he says, while looking back at the valuable moments.

But not only the positive experiences are liable. The loss of his successor Stefan Caplan left traces. "It was a terrible moment. We were different, but our cooperation was strong," he recalls the moving marriages that he led out of full conviction. "I think now is the right time to withdraw me," concludes Kahrl, with a last look at the city that means so much to him.
