In a new nationwide competition "Our village has a future", several communities have successfully emerged and impressively demonstrated their strengths. After the interrupted participation due to the corona pandemic, Rhineland-Palatinate has now taken part in this important competition again with full force. The municipality of Waldweiler, which won first place in the district decision and received prize money of 300 euros. The municipalities of Deesem (Lohmar) and Helpenstell (Windeck) were awarded gold for their successful contributions in the category "Small towns among 800 inhabitants", while Gielsdorf, Lüftelberg and Neuhonrath-Aauel triumphed in the category "Large towns over 1,000 inhabitants". The competition promotes the development of future -proof structures in the villages, which means that the quality of life of the residents is to be improved and new perspectives are to be created.
