New living concept: Dietesheimer Straße wins 16 sustainable apartments!

Dietesheimer Straße 16-22, 64546 Mörfelden-Walldorf, Deutschland - In Dietesheimer Straße 16-30, the construction work is in full swing. Not only modernized existing apartments are being built in the Cottbus city center, but also 16 brand new apartments that are realized by increasing the existing buildings. This innovative construction takes place in wooden stand construction and also ensures a beautiful, green flat roof.

Monika Fontaine Kretschmer, the technical managing director of the Nassauische Heimstätte, emphasizes the advantages of this measure: "With the increase, we can encounter current lack of living space without sealing additional areas or buying new properties. In addition, the urban structure with generous green areas remains intact, since the basic infrastructure is already available."

sustainability in focus

The decision for a wooden stand construction also have ecological reasons. Wood is a renewable raw material and allows a shortened construction period by prefabricating the wall elements. This is both advantageous for the time frame of the project and the environment.

A particularly important aspect of modernization is the energetic optimization of the 64 existing apartments. As part of the work, new heating systems are installed for each house line based on a system of heat pumps connected in series. In addition, a photovoltaic system for using it is built. This leads to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions by a total of 173 tons annually, which corresponds to an impressive saving of around 82 percent.

In addition, the apartments are subjected to comprehensive renovation. New kitchens, modern baths and fresh balconies are part of the entire renovation concept. If everything goes according to plan, the work should be completed by the end of March next year.

A sustainable highlight of the project is the recycling of materials: parts of the old roof beams are recycled and are used in another construction project in Mörfelden-Walldorf. This shows that the topic of recycling is actively integrated into the planning and ensures comprehensive sustainability.
