Green demands improvements in local transport: Frechen remains behind!

Frechen, Deutschland - In the tranquil cheeky it is bubbling! The Greens loudly demand that local transport are finally brought to the forefront. A clear appeal to those responsible, because more commuters from Cologne flock to the city every year, while at the same time the public transport is behind. The current local transport plan for the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, which is to come into force in 2025-2035, provides ‘many good ideas’, but the reality is still sobering.

Both Birgit vonester, the green chair in the traffic committee, as well as their fellow campaigners make it clear: the lack of dynamic departure ads at high frequency stops is not acceptable. The central bus station in Frechen in particular is far behind the standards of neighboring Cologne. The call: "We finally need clarity when the buses come!" How should a change from the car to public traffic area if the passengers remain uncertain?

The ten-minute cycle is needed!

Another urgent concern of the Greens: Line 145 from Bachem to Weiden-Zentrum must finally run every ten minutes during peak times! At the moment, passengers are often waiting in vain, because the 20-minute cycle always leads to overcrowded buses, while the passengers can often no longer get in. This must be changed immediately, because it cannot be that users are transported on their working paths such as cattle.

But that's not all! The north-east entrance to the Europark suffers from blatant defects: there is no essential changeover hub here! Lines 145 and SB91 cross, but there is no link for commuters. A connection to line 7 stop also remains an unfulfilled wish. In particular, the commuters from Cologne, many in the low -wage sector, have a hard time doing without an acceptable footpath.

Time is pushing and the Greens put great hopes in the next steps in the local transport plan. Will something finally move or does everything stay the same? The question is in the room!
