Thousands demonstrate for hostages: brings our dear home!
In a passionate outcry, thousands of Israelis once again demonstrated for the release of their compatriots kidnapped by Hamas. The occasion? The alleged death of another hostage in the Gaza Strip had the waves hit. "To our beloved hostages, if you can hear us, everyone loves yourself. Stay strong. Survives," survived the activist Rachel Goldberg-Polish in Tel Aviv, whose son was murdered by Hamas three months ago. The emotions cook over while people on the streets fight for their relatives' return.
"Focus on the most important mission: brings the hostage home," Jon Polish appealed to the political decision -makers. In the midst of anger and grief, hundreds of the Israeli government accuse the Gaza war unnecessarily and thus endanger the life of hostages. In Jerusalem, too, numerous people gathered who occur for an agreement with Hamas to free the hostages.
political hurdles and the role of Netanyahus
Hope for an agreement is subdued by the position of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He is dependent on right-wing extremists and ultra-religious coalition partners who are strictly against a deal with Hamas. Netanyahu himself has a great interest in stabilizing his government, since new elections could not only endanger his office, but also the ongoing corruption investigations against him.
The situation is tense: Hamas has announced that a kidnapped Israeli was killed and another hostage is seriously injured. This information comes from a Hamas spokesman and have so far not been verified independently. In the meantime, the US authorities, represented by Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, confirmed their support for the release of all hostages and asked the Israeli government to improve the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. The hostages remain a central topic in international diplomacy, while time is urging and the fate of the remaining 100 hostages remains uncertain.
