Ottfingen. On Tuesday, Kunibert Kinkel becomes 80 years old and looks back on an impressive life that is characterized by tireless commitment. Over 150 years of volunteering and politics are anchored in his biography. Kinkel, a real Ottfinger veteran, has left lasting traces not only in his home community, but also far beyond.

"My family, especially my wife Christa, always kept my back free," says Kinkel. He emphasizes the support of his companions in the clubs that have always motivated him. Together with Christa and her dog Kira, he continues to live in Ottfingen, where he talks about the facets of his life in an interview with the Siegener Zeitung. It becomes clear how much energy it has invested in every phase of life, always for the benefit of the general public.

born on November 12, 1944, Kinkel began his volunteering at the Musikverein "Loyalty" Ottfingen, where he was active not only as a secretary, but also as a drummer and chairman. But his heart beats especially for SV Ottfingen, where he took over in 1977 and led it for over 13 years. Kinkel was instrumental in the fact that Ottfingen received the first grass field in 1993 and also organized the renovations in 2008 and 2024.

Politically, Kinkel is also no stranger. He was a member of the council in Wenden for almost three decades and mayor from 1989 to 1994. For his merits, he received the community's ring of honor in 1994 and was appointed Honorary Councilor in 2010. Kinkel is a man of the principles: "Where a will, there is a way" is his motto. He criticizes today's politics, which in his opinion too often relies on conformity and does not fight enough for real changes. "Work was a life of life for our post -war generation. Today it is more considered to be an interruption of free time," he sums up.

Despite its age, Kinkel remains active and asked. "Because I just enjoy it when you can make a difference," he says, and is grateful for the opportunity to continue to communicate and help people. A true fighter for the common good, who does not stop working for his beliefs even at the age of 80.
