New AWO daycare center in Gummersbach: inauguration and big plans for the future!
Hülsenbusch, Deutschland - Gummersbach-A new chapter for the little ones in Gummersbach-Hülsenbusch! The new AWO daycare center has opened its doors and was inaugurated today. Architect Volker Müller confessed that the construction project was a real challenge. A watercourse had to be converted on a spacious property of 5,000 square meters, which led to the extraordinary triangular shape of the two -storey building. With 1,200 square meters of usable space, the daycare center offers space for up to 85 children in four groups. "Big corridors give the children a lot of space to play," said Müller enthusiastically.
The facility manager Lisa Thamm emphasized that the focus was on movement. There is not only enough space for romping on every hall, but also small oases of play that encourage the children to participate. Healthy eating is also very important: cooking and baking matters are available in every group room. The children have already baked Christmas cookies for the guests! The interior is regularly adapted to the seasons to always offer the small residents new incentives.
investments in the future
The old kindergarten, who was 65 years old, was demolished to make room for the new facility. Mayor Frank Helmenstein proudly reported about the investments of around seven million euros that flow into the future of children. The new building alone cost four million euros, with 2.4 million euros in funding from the country. The city deliberately avoided interim construction, which led to savings of around 300,000 euros. Currently there are already 60 children in the new daycare center, a specialist is still being sought to get the company for full load soon.
There is an all -clear for the children in the village: the playground that had to give way to the new building will be rebuilt on the neighboring property as soon as the old daycare building is torn down. The new facility will bear the name "Frida Nadig", in honor of a co -designer of the Basic Law. An exciting day for Gummersbach-Hülsenbusch and its little residents!
