Marienheide is fighting for 4.5 million euros deficit in the 2025 budget!

Marienheide, Deutschland - Marienheide faces financial challenges that the community could lead to a dark future! At yesterday's council meeting, the budget was presented for 2025, and the treasurer Eva Kranenberg warned urgently: "Difficult and dark times are imminent!" Despite a lower deficit than expected, which is alleviated by additional revenue, a short amount of 4.5 million euros is recorded in the household. In order not to slip into the household protection, the reserves must be tapped - a risky step!

The financial key data show that the municipality hopes for income of 38.6 million euros, with the tax revenue making the lion's share. However, the increase in the circular levy and falling key assignments put the cash register under pressure. The trade tax, which has developed positively despite crises, is estimated at 8 million euros. In order to stabilize the financial situation, the municipality plans to increase the lifting rates from 490 to 510 percent - a step that has been overdue for eight years!

investments and expenses

The expenses amount to a total of 43.7 million euros, with the transfer expenses with 19 million euros the largest Position. The loads due to high energy costs and rising personnel expenses make the situation even more tense. Around 17.8 million euros are planned for investments, whereby 12.8 million euros are to be financed by borrowing. Important projects such as the expansion of the fire station and investments in schools are on the agenda - but the question remains: Can Marienheide master these financial challenges?

The next budget examination will take place on November 5, followed by further meetings in which the future of the community is discussed. The pressure is high and time is pushing - Marienheide has to act quickly to survive the financial storms!
