Yonex German Ruhr International: Badminton stronghold attracts 530 talents!
in Mülheim an der Ruhr, the tournament of the Yonex German Ruhr International will take place for the fifth time from 9 to 13 October 2024. At this renowned event, over 530 young badminton players from 23 different nations registered. This once again shows the international attraction of the tournament, which was successfully launched in 2019 with around 400 participants from 16 countries.
The first games start next Wednesday, and the final games will be played on Sunday. For the athletes, the event is not just a sporting challenge. It also offers a platform for exchange and promoting intercultural communication through badminton sports. It is particularly gratifying that the U19 and U17 competitions take place in the Western energy sports hall, which are officially recognized by the Badminton World Association (BWF) and Badmintoneurope (BEC). This means that the participants can fight world ranking points, which underlines the importance of the event.
tournament details and competitive locations
While the U19 and U17 play in the main sports hall, the U15 competitions are held from Friday to Sunday in the sports hall von-Bock-Straße, only about 150 meters from the Western energy sports hall. VfB Grün-Weiß Mülheim acts as the host of the entire tournament, which is organized in cooperation with the German Badminton Association.
tournament director Sven Anstötz emphasizes the importance of the volunteers who make a significant contribution to the success of the event. Many of these committed volunteers bring a variety of skills, often even from other sports. They not only sacrifice their time, but sometimes also their vacation to support the tournament and ensure a smooth process. The GRE Greenliners are only one example of a group that actively supports the operation of the cafeteria, even though they themselves are not active in badminton.
A central goal of the tournament is not only the sporting competition, but also the creation of a friendly and respectful environment that brings young people together for different cultural backgrounds. The organizers are determined to continuously improve the event and thus also offer the participants and spectators an even better experience.
For badminton enthusiasts and sports fans, there is a great opportunity to pursue exciting matches and meet young talents from all over the world. Further information can be found on the websites of the organizers and the German Badminton Association.
The tournament promises to become a highlight in the 2024 sports calendar and shows how important such international events are for the development of badminton sports and promoting the exchange between cultures. Truly an event that celebrates both competition and community spirit.
