The winners come from different parts of the world and are often not known to the general public. Each of them is committed to the rights of oppressed and the preservation of the environment. Anabela Lemos and Justica Ambiental have campaigned in Mozambique to ensure that the communities can assert their rights to environmental protection and large -scale projects. Her struggle for ecological justice is crucial to give the local people a voice and improve their living conditions.
issa Amro and his group receive the award for their non -violent resistance to the crew in Hebron. The group promotes the civilian commitment of the Palestinians and is committed to peaceful solutions in a very conflict -loaded area.
The latest developments in digital forensics, which are promoted by Forensic Architecture, are particularly remarkable. This organization has developed innovative methods to help victims of human rights violations to determine responsibility for environmental damage and thus promote justice. The annual award winners are honored shortly before the announced Nobel Prize Awards and are often in a row with other important personalities such as the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren or the US whistleblow Edward Snowden. Since the foundation of the prize in 1980, almost 200 award winners from 77 countries have received the award and thus made a sustainable contribution to human rights work.
The award ceremony will take place on December 4th in Stockholm and is accompanied by the Right-Livelihood Foundation. In view of the wide range of nominations - this year there were 176 candidates from 72 countries - the choice reflects the relevance and the global character of the challenges with which these award winners are faced.
The commitment and determination of the excellent activists are not only inspiring, but also haunting memories of the importance of non -violent resistance in difficult times. As Ole von Uexküll noticed, they encourage us to become braver and use us for justice. An example of courageous actions that can have far -reaching effects in the local communities.
