Carnival joy in Mönchengladbach: New Wagenbauhalle opened!

in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt caused an unusual sight: tractors transported the cars of the carnival societies through the city center. Many passers -by were surprised by this early move, which was actually a planned transport to the new wagon building hall. The carnival association was finally able to find suitable accommodation after years of search.

On Saturday morning the hustle and bustle began in the old wagon building hall in Lürrip, where around 30 tractors drove tirelessly to bring the carnival cars to their new location in the Giesenkirchen district. The train manager Thomas Platzer said: "The order is important because we also have to sort the cars back into the new hall." However, the new is smaller than the old hall, so that precise planning was required.

The diversion in the new hall was monitored by the technical relief organization. Train leader Thomas Meiners emphasized the importance of this measure: "We see this for us as a greater exercise. We make sure that despite the narrow space, all escape routes are free and the safety distance for fire protection is maintained." During the move, the support of the THW colleagues ensured a smooth process and a good atmosphere.

After an eight kilometer trip through the city, the carnival cars finally arrived at their new hometown. Thomas Meiners was consistently satisfied with the smooth course so far. The new location should not only offer space for the selection of cars, but also serve as a community center.

a fresh start for the carnival societies

Gert Kartheuser, the chairman of the carnival association, saw the move as a special moment: "We are starting a new era of the Mönchengladbach carnival today," he said proudly. In the old hall there were constant problems with penetrating water and vandalism, which often ruined the tedious work for carnivalists. "Today we have a place where we can work on our car for the upcoming session in peace," continued Kartheuser.

The scheduled move not only marks a logistical progress, but also symbolizes a new beginning for the carnival societies in the region. An event and meeting center are to be created with the new hall, which will offer training opportunities for different garden and groups. This is a novelty for many carnival clubs in Mönchengladbach.

The move of the cars was the result of months of planning and preparation. The Carnival Association is confident that this new location will offer the members an inspiring environment to bring their creative ideas to life. The entire process shows how important it is to create a safe and functional space for the carnival clubs.
