Young home nurse fights for life in the remote Stemwede!

In the small community of Stemwede in the Minden-Lübbecke district, there is a remarkable personality: Mathis Lemke, a 25-year-old home nurse who is committed to his village and actively concerns the challenges of rural community. With a population of only 14,000 people, the community has its own charm, but also its difficulties that need to be overcome. Lemke emphasizes what his homeland is missing: "No pub, no village center, no sidewalks. Only our rifle hall." But that doesn't stop him from getting involved and enriching life in the village.

Mathis Lemke lives in the Arrenkamp district, where, in addition to the approximately 200 inhabitants, many animals such as cows and horses shape the rural picture. Despite the rural seclusion and the tendency of many young people to move into the city, Lemke decided to stay in his home country. "I never wanted to get out of my village after school," he says, showing his deep connection with the region.

commitment and responsibility

As one of the youngest home nurse in North Rhine-Westphalia, a role that, according to the Westphalian Heimatbund is perceived by around 700 people in the region, Lemke knows first-hand challenges. "Our most important task is to be available," he explains. This role includes a variety of tasks, from maintaining the infrastructure to the remedial of small but important concerns of the villagers. Whether it is about the fact that too high trees have to be circumcised or garbage lies on the streets - Lemke is the contact person who forwards these concerns to the community or takes the Initiative to find solutions.

The financial support system for home careers is also particularly interesting. "The country gives a grant of up to 2,000 euros, only anyone knows," notes Lemke. He would like to pass on this knowledge to help others support projects in the community. In order to promote the village community, he organizes actions and ideas together with the residents that are supposed to improve daily life in the village.

lemke shows that even in a rural environment like Stemwede, a committed and young voice can be heard. His example could inspire others to also make themselves too strong for their community and to actively make changes.

The commitment of Mathis Lemke is not only a win for Stemwede, but also a sign that the roots of their homeland can give them the strength to strengthen the village community and keep alive. In times when many young people migrate to larger cities, it is particularly important to highlight and appreciate such examples of engagement.
