Mettmann-Sport strengthens Oberliga chances with a narrow victory in Lintorf
In an exciting handball game, Mettmann-Sport met TuS Lintorf and was able to prevail with a narrow victory of 30:32. The game took place in front of enthusiastic spectators in Lintorf and shows the high sporting effort of both teams.
The meeting of both teams was characterized by balanced moves from the start. However, Mettmann-Sport had to put on the reins because it took almost three minutes for the first goal to score. Dominic Völl brought his team to 1-1, which obviously strengthened the self -confidence of the guests. Within a very short time, Mettmann-Sport with Torben Schirner and other successful throws was able to work out a guided tour of 6: 3 (9th minute).

It was remarkable how the Lintorfer, although they were severely weakened, did not show resignation. Christoph Lesch in particular shone with precise litters, causing the home side to score the tie again in the 11th minute. Andreas Kropp then provided the leadership of the Lintorfer in the 23rd minute. A crucial moment, however, was 14:14 at halftime, which increased the tension enormously.
After the break, the exciting duel continued. Both teams continued to act at eye level, but then Mettmann-Sport implemented a tactical change. The young Moritz Brinkmann took over in the left back area and immediately showed his playful presence. After a coarse foul by TuS player Tim Bauerfeld, who led to the red card, the Mettmanners were able to convert this outnumbered into a 19:17 lead.
The Lintorfer fought until the end, and they managed to shorten a double pack from MAS WASSE to 22:23. But the guests could no longer take the victory, despite all the efforts of the home side, who could no longer achieve the equalization. Jan Schirweit and Torben Schirner contributed significantly to success with her goals, while the team of coach Andre Loschinski paid respect to the combative performance of the Lintorfer and still wanted a better overall performance.
Mettmann-Sport remains in the race for the top league tip through this important victory and thus strengthens your position in the table. The upcoming games will remain exciting, while the team wants to work on their defensive, which did not work optimally in this game.
