ÖKOPROFIT 2023: Iserlohn companies show how ecology brings sales!

The event for the award of the companies and institutions that performed particularly well in the eco -profit 2023/2024 performed particularly good performance in climate protection in the building of the SASE in Iserlohn. Nine companies and a vocational college with a total of 1,151 employees were recognized at this event and impressively showed that ecological initiatives and economic success can go hand in hand.

Marco Voge, the district administrator of the Märkische Kreis, thanked the excellent actors and emphasized the importance of their contributions to the balance sheet and climate protection. Krischer also expressed his joy about the opportunity to be present at the event. He found that Ökrofit was a prime example of how companies can achieve economic success with green ideas. The bet on sustainability pays off what the outstanding figures show: a total of around 260,503 euros were able to save a total of around 260,503 euros, save 842,676 kilowatt hours of energy and reduce 445 tons of CO2 emissions. In addition, 3.1 tons of waste were avoided and 150 cubic meters of water were saved. The investments were 5.794 million euros, a large part of it flowed into new windows of the vocational college.

The balance sheet at the state level is even more impressive: Since the start of ÖkoProfit 24 years ago, over 2,600 companies and facilities have participated in the program. These accommodate around 620,000 people and have saved a total of 820 million kilowatt hours of electricity. This corresponds to the energy requirement of 273,000 households. In addition, 440,000 tons of CO2 emissions and 57,000 tons of residual waste were avoided, which led to savings of 100 million euros in operating costs.

The event took place in an emotional framework, since Petra Schaller, the climate protection officer of the Märkische Kreis, received its last award in this function and soon retired.
