In the Gasvario tariff, customers now have to pay 11.13 ct/kWh instead of 10.17 ct/kWh. For an average household with an annual consumption of 20,000 kWh, this means additional costs of around 200 euros! And the local heating customers are also not spared: their prices for heat and hot water increase by about 6.3 percent compared to the previous year.

The reasons for the price increase

The CO2 price, which has to be paid for the emissions of greenhouse gases, rises from 45 euros to 55 euros per ton. In addition, the network fees are increased in many places, which continues to drive end customer prices. Stadtwerke warn: If you consider a change of supplier, you should keep an eye on the current price developments, as many providers also adapt their prices nationwide.

But there is hope! Customers can save by changing the basic supply to the Gasvario tariff. With a change, you pay 1.07 cents gross less per kilowatt hour and could even pay less than in the previous year.
