Renery under the stilts: Küppersteg is spared from noise protection!
In Leverkusen-Küppersteg, the residents have long worried about the growing noise pollution by cars, which often meet under the "stilts". However, a recently held on -site appointment brought no changes. Although the city administration had thought about possible measures, the status quo.
With the proposal to set up bollards under the stilt, the administration wanted to divide the area into smaller sectors. This should have made the racers use shorter distances. However, there were considerable concerns about feasibility. The planning would be extremely complex due to the necessary consideration of escape routes and access to residential areas. In addition, the bollards would have to be removed from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on match days, which is not feasible for the technical companies (TBL).
alternative measures are rejected
In addition, other ideas were discussed at the on -site visit, such as lane thresholds in the form of "Berlin pillows" or "Cologne plates" that should encourage drivers to drive more slowly. But here, too, the city administration doubts security. Cyclists and motorcyclists could overthrow in unfavorable entrance angles. In addition, the lighting under the stilt is so bad that such measures could be overlooked.A proposal for monitoring the area with cameras was immediately rejected for data protection reasons. Experts from the police and the municipal security service emphasize that there are noise pollution, but there is no qualified danger from organized racers. Paul-Leander Schmidt from the SPD, who is himself a resident, expressed disappointing expectations at the on-site visit: "We proposed concrete solutions and only got excuses."
long -term observation of problems
Schmidt observes the behavior of the drivers, who are often on the move with the license plates. He noticed the "drifting" and the circle of the vehicles, which is accompanied by loud engine noise and squeaky tires. He invites other residents to share their observations to the municipal regulatory service so that the situation can be better documented.
The persistent noise pollution from the "Posers scene" is a recurring problem, especially on weekends and late in the evening. In view of the current budget situation of the city and the planned extensions by Autobahn GmbH, however, no improvement in the situation seems to be in sight in the short and medium term. The evaluation of the situation will continue to keep an eye on, but at the moment everything stays the same. More information on this topic can be found at www.ksta.de .
