Climate protection in Leverkusen: Children collect 31,000 green miles!

An exciting adventure for the students in Leverkusen! On Friday, the best energy spokesman for the city were celebrated for their tireless use in climate protection. 21 committed students not only received certificates for their daycare centers and schools, but also the unique opportunity to drive through the car wash by regular bus - a truly unforgettable experience! WUPSI Managing Director Marc Kretkowski and Naturgut Ophoven Manager Lars Dietrich presented the awards at the WUPSI farm and paid tribute to the outstanding services of the participants.

A total of 18 daycare centers and schools have actively participated in the urban project "Energielux-climate protection in Leverkusen schools and kindergartens" from April to October and collected an incredible 31,000 "green climate part"! Every climate -friendly way, be it on foot, by bike or bus. Particularly impressive: The GGS Opladen has taken first place with 7760 collected miles - and for the third time in a row! "We have very committed teachers," emphasized OGS group leader Regina Roderer, who praised the success of the school.

Together for climate protection

The students of the Hans-Christian-Andersen School and other facilities have also actively contributed to reducing the "Mama Taxis" and collected many climate parts. "Being mobile is very important in our lives. But it doesn't always have to be by car," said Kretkowski. The children were not only able to score through environmentally friendly mobility, but also through less meat consumption and electricity saving, which stickers brought them for their collecting books.

These local "climate parts" campaign is part of a larger, Europe-wide initiative that aims to raise awareness of children and adolescents to climate protection. The emissions saved should serve as an urgent message to the decision -makers at the international level. And best of all: The children's contributions could even get on the big stage of climate policy at the UN climate conference in Azerbaijan!
