Bayern Munich embarrasses itself in the DFB Cup: New with a red card!
In a dramatic DFB Cup game, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Bayern Munich 1-0! The shock came early: Manuel Neuer, the experienced goalkeeper of Bayern, saw the red card in the 17th minute after brutally around Frimpong instead of playing the ball. This was the first red card in his entire professional career! The Bavarians then had to outnumber over 70 minutes, while Daniel Peretz, the replacement goalkeeper, celebrated his debut.
The first minutes after the dismissal were not easy for Leverkusen, since despite the outnumbered they could only play out a few chances. Frimpong and Wirtz had the best opportunities, but Peretz kept strong. In the 69th minute the time had come: Tella headed for a precise flank from Grimaldo to lead Leverkusen. The Bavarians tried to come back, but their shots from Laimer and Coman did not find their way online. Matej Kovar, the goalkeeper of Leverkusen, remained insurmountable until the end and secured the victory for his team.
The numbers speak volumes
The goalkeeper comparison shows the dominance of Kovar, which did not allow a single goal, while Peretz had to grab behind. The Bavarians had a total of 11 shots on goal, but could only bring 4 to the goal, while Leverkusen gave 14 shots. Kovar parried the few dangerous balls and proved that he is a backing for the Leverkusen. Bayern, on the other hand, have to ask themselves how they want to survive in the next round without a new one.
