Police shoot the attacker in front of Krefeld cinema - drama in Cracau!

Krefeld (NRW)-In an alarming development on Friday evening, an armed man forced the security forces before the "Cinemaxx" cinema in Krefeld to open fire. The background to the incident is several arson attacks that he had previously committed in the area. The suspect who faced an immediate intervention by the police was seriously injured and brought to a clinic.

Against the background of the threatening Situation, two police officers intervened when the man entered the lobby of the cinema. He was stopped by the officials with firearms who were used to ensure public security. According to a reported, there was a direct contact, in which at least one shot fell and the man hit. An ambulance then transported him to a medical facility to treat his injuries.

The chain of arson

Before attacking the cinema, the man had carried out a number of attacks in Krefeld. At 7:50 p.m. the series started with an arson attack on the Federal Employment Agency, where he threw a Molotov cocktail into the building. Then he lit a van parked in front of the employment office and fled towards the main train station. Nearby, the roof of an apartment building was also set on fire, which the police suspect, also laid by the attacker.

A look at the dramatic scenes in front of the cinema gave an eyewitness, Ibrahim Schkeer. The restaurant owner reported a loud bang that caused him to see outside. He watched the perpetrator to break into the windows of a Caritas bus, poured gasoline inside and set the vehicle on fire. "That was scary," said Schkeer, "I knew that more would happen."

The man was in possession of a Molotov cocktail and another weapon, which classified the situation as potentially amok-like. As a result of the incidents, the police in Essen took over the investigation. It has also become known that the attacker probably has an Iranian background.
