Neuss loses 1: 6 in Cologne - opportunities not used!
In an exciting meeting of the indoor hockey Bundesliga, HTC SW Neuss had to accept a 1: 6 defeat against Rot-Weiss Cologne last Sunday. Despite a creative tactic that did without the goalkeeper Konstantin Hayner, Neuss could not effectively stop the favorite Cologne. The first few minutes looked promising; Neuss could have run 2-0 through numerous opportunities, instead Cologne scored the first goal by Phillip Holzmüller in the 10th minute. Julian Dettmer equalized, but Cologne dominated the game and led 2-1 at half time. Coach Matthias Gräber was disappointed with the defective goal yield: "We only score 16 goals in four games, this is not a monster balance," said Gräber, who clearly spoke to the team's weaknesses, as on rp-online.de
another chapter in the duel
Rot-Weiss Cologne, which had also won 13: 4 in a previous duel from Neuss, was ready in the second leg on January 6th for a continuation of the triumphal train. In an intensive game, Rot-Weiss won 8: 7, with Vitali Shevchuk scored the first goal for Neuss in the 5th minute. Cologne countered, however, quickly and got a 5-2 lead at half-time. Although Neuss caught up in the last quarter and reduced the gap to 7: 8, the defeat could no longer be averted. Cologne coach Dominic Giskes was proud of the performance of the team, which despite the challenges of the game with fresh players from the U21 World Cup, as well as on Rot-weiss-koeln.de was recorded.
Both games are of great importance in the race for the playoff places. While Rot-Weiss Cologne continues to fight for the qualification, the HTC SW Neuss could have to develop new strategies to achieve better results in upcoming games.
