Ford in Cologne: 3000 jobs in danger - works council raises the alarm!

In a dramatic step, Ford plans to reduce almost 3000 jobs - that is around 25% of the workforce! These shocking news was announced at a works meeting on November 27th and throw a dark shadow on the future of many employees. The automotive giant, which is in a deep sales crisis, is forced to take drastic measures to save its European business.

The details of the job cuts are alarming: 1000 jobs in FCSD administration and 1000 more in production should be lost. In addition, 900 jobs in product development and external service providers are canceled. The works council chief Benjamin Gruschka described the plans as a "brutal dismantling plan", which is "unacceptable" and is seriously at risk of the existence of the location. IG Metall has already announced massive resistance and speaks of a "ruthless approach" of the group.

Ford fights for survival

Currently around 12,000 people are still employed in Cologne, a number that has dropped dramatically in recent years. Ford has announced that the job was reduced by the end of 2027 to concentrate on the core business of car production. The decision to set popular models such as Fiesta and Focus without offering adequate replacement has only tightened the sales crisis. The new electric cars that are produced in Cologne also do not sell as hoped, which further worsens.

The Ford's future in Europe is on the brink, and the employees are worried about their jobs. The coming months will be decisive, while the company is trying to free itself from this crisis and at the same time secure the jobs of its loyal employees.
