Bayer 04 Leverkusen starts young project in Eschweiler: This is how it works!

FC Eschweiler will soon open a new chapter in football, namely as a partner of the great Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. This cooperation marks a significant step in young talent training and raises the region to new heights of football. Bayer 04 Leverkusen, known for his excellent talent promotion, now brings his youth department to the Dürwißer sports park, where some of the most promising talents will train in the future.

The innovative concept is called "Bayer 04-Future Kids" and offers high-quality training in three different cities, including Eschweiler, the opportunity for young footballers from age groups to U10. Instead of in Leverkusen, where there were previously only one team per year, several teams are now being formed in each region. "The additional teams can give us more children access to our training," explains Sven Hübscher, who is responsible for the U8 to U15. This step should not only make the search for talents easier, but also take the pressure from the young players and their families who want to avoid long journey to Leverkusen.

a strong focus on the region

From the 2025 season, the new teams will be active in the Dürwißer sports park. This decision means that not only more children are given the opportunity to be promoted in football, but also that the compatibility of training and family is taken into account. "We want the children to be able to spend more time with their families," emphasizes Hübscher. This is achieved through the restructuring of the training program, which aims to offer the young players a high level of training.

FC Eschweiler has already shown the first signs of the new partnership. Around 16 players from the 2017 and 2018 players are currently taking part in a sighting training. The selection is made by a team of coaches that precisely analyzes the skills and talents of the children. After several training sessions, it is decided which players are added to the new squad. "We want to address the best talents in the region and integrate them into our system," says Hübscher.

The responsible persons of Bayer 04 are impressed by the infrastructure in the north of Eschweiler. The nearby motorway and the appealing sports facility are just a few of the reasons why the decision for this location was made. Eric Morsch, chairman of FC Eschweiler, can hardly hide his joy about the new cooperation: "Cooperation with one of the largest football clubs in the world is a great gain for the region." He sees the opportunity for local trainers to learn from the experienced Bayer coaches and thus increase the level of training in Eschweiler.

With this partnership, the next stars of German football from Eschweiler could soon come. "Perhaps the Bundesliga professionals from the day after tomorrow have learned playing football here in Eschweiler," says Morsch optimistically. The focus on local talent paired with the expertise of a Bundesliga club will certainly open new perspectives for the young players in the region.
