Circle Kleve on the city cycling: saved 250 tons of CO2!

in the district of Kleve, the conclusion of the "City Cycling 2024" campaign was recently celebrated, and the numbers are really impressive. In a three -week period, over 7,100 cyclists have covered an impressive 1.51 million kilometers. This means a remarkable saving of around 250 tons of CO2 compared to car journeys.

Although the number of participants was high, the entire route was left behind the previous year's record, in which 8,700 cyclists made 2.16 million kilometers. District Administrator Christoph Gerwers praised the performance of the participants, despite the frequent rain during the action. "It shows that the city bike campaign is firmly anchored in the Kleve district," he said.

award ceremony and prices

The most successful cyclists were awarded at a solemn ceremony. The most outstanding driver was Bo van Weelden, who reached the top with 1,922 kilometers. In the team ranking, the Caritasverband Kleve e.V. took the lead with impressive 9,682 kilometers. In addition, some participants received prizes such as bicycle accessories and vouchers for local shops.

A special highlight of the event was the raffle of different prices among active cyclists. Gerd Brammen, Patrick Kempka, Melanie Helmes, Marco Treffler and Maria van de Vorle each won a voucher of 250 euros for a bicycle business. The main prize, an e-bike worth around 2,500 euros, went to Karl-Heinz Laube from Straelen.

background to the action

This year's city bike was under the motto "Experience nature-save CO2", and it encouraged people to cover everyday ways in an environmentally friendly way. This should not only strengthen the motivation to use the bike, but also promote the advantages of health. The event also promotes awareness of cycling as a sensible alternative in short paths.

This positive development shows the continued commitment of the participants in the Kleve district for sustainable mobility. Despite the challenges of the weather in the course of the campaign, the community has proven that it is ready to get involved in environmentally friendly initiatives, which is an inspiring message for the entire region.
