Animal cruelty in Winterberg: Moles killed with propaneas!

In a shocking incident in Winterberg, property owners allegedly killed moles with propaneas, which the animal rights organization PETA called on the scene. The cruel images that PETA were played show diluted moles that died painfully on a garden property. This incident, which took place in October, takes a bright light on the brutal methods that some people apply to deal with the small animals.

"It is frightening to what cruel methods are used because moles leave hill in the garden at the dig in the grave," said Lisa Red Government from Peta. The organization filed a criminal complaint with the Arnsberg public prosecutor on October 29 because the moles are under nature conservation. The authorities have already launched a procedure against the property owners, and the police were able to confirm the use of a propane gas bottle in the back garden.

PETA demands hard punishments

Attorney General Thomas Poggel confirmed the entrance to the criminal complaint and explained that the investigation continued. The consequences for those responsible could be serious, since the Animal Welfare Act provides for up to three years of imprisonment. PETA now demands that the perpetrators are held accountable for their cruel deeds. "We are relieved that the authority has reacted so quickly and hope that this cruelty to animals will be strictly sanctioned," continued Rederelle.

moles have been under nature conservation since 1988 and may only be sold with gentle methods. A violation of the Federal Nature Conservation Act can result in sensitive fines that can be up to 50,000 euros in North Rhine-Westphalia. PETA points out that moles are not pests, but useful animals that contribute to floor ventilation and eat pests such as snails and grids.
