Piranhas celebrate sixth home win: 4: 1 against Halle Saale Bulls!
The Rostock Piranhas have once again proven their dominance in the home ice rink! With an impressive 4-1 victory against the Halle Saale Bulls, the North Germans celebrated their sixth home win in a row in the ice hockey Oberliga North. After a surprising defeat in Herne, the Piranhas were very relaxed and strengthened their place in the playoff ranks with 32 points.
The game did not optimally started for the Piranhas when they got behind in the 10th minute. But the top scorer Jesper Öhrvall already equalized in the 16th minute. "Against Halle we were able to complete the weekend with a good feeling. But the three points are important," emphasized captain Kilian Steinmann after the game.
A tough duel
The match was a hard struggle, shaped by defensive strategies. "It was a very tough game. Halle concentrated on his own defense work and hardly put his own impulses forward," explained coach Lenny Soccio. Despite the difficulties, the Piranhas managed to take the lead in the 32nd minute through Öhrvall. In the final phase, when the guests put everything on one card and took their goalkeeper off the ice in favor of an additional field player, the Piranhas took the opportunity and scored two more goals through Ilja Fleischmann and again Öhrvall.
"We still have to learn to act better and more efficiently against those teams that rely above all on the defensive. Nevertheless, my boys worked hard again. In the end, the three points count," summed up Soccio. The Piranhas remain in the race for the direct playoff places and show that they can also exist in difficult games.
