Furniture industry in Löhne: Teaching factory should attract young talents!

The furniture industry in the Herford district faces an alarming challenge: the average age of the employees is 46.4 years - a value that is well above the average of other industries! Jan Kurth, the head of the associations of the German furniture industry, made it clear when the new teaching factory in Löhne was opened that the industry urgently needed younger employees to remain sustainable.

young talents urgently wanted!

In comparison, the employees in the metal and electrical industry are an average of three years younger. In order to counteract the impending shortage of skilled workers and to make the furniture industry more attractive for the young generation, the teaching factory was launched. The 25 million euro building on Schützenstraße offers the latest course rooms and machines that enable trainees to have first-class training.

This initiative is not only an answer to the demographic challenge, but also a clear call to young people to choose a career in the furniture industry. The industry is doing everything possible to set the course for a successful future!
