FC Wegberg-Beeck: With 4-0 to the cup room-Next opponent: Alemannia!
Bergisch Gladbach, Deutschland - FC Wegberg-Beeck has secured the second round in the football middle rhine cup with an impressive 4-0 win against SV Bergisch Gladbach! On Wednesday evening, the clover leaves showed outstanding performance and dominated the game from start to finish. "We had a good intensity in our game today. It was an open game, although we already had the larger game shares," explained coach Mike Schmalenberg after the final whistle.
Timo Braun put the guests in the lead in the 30th minute with a precise pass from Paul Gelber. "The goal gave us tailwind for the second half," emphasized Schmalenberg. And indeed, the second half started furiously: Mehmet Yilmaz increased in the 47th minute to 2-0, followed by Leo Mirgartz, who only scored the 3-0 three minutes later. The substitute Alleio Tafa set the final point in the 61st minute and made it 4-0 perfect. "We absolutely wanted to reach the next cup round today. The team did it and performed very well," summarized the coach.
outlook on the league
But the view of Schmalenberg and assistant coach Stephan Houben is already aimed at the next challenge: On Sunday (2:30 p.m.) the Beecker welcomes the Porz sports club in the Waldstadion at home. With 13 points, the Wegberger is currently taking eighth place in the Middle Rhine League and hope to take the momentum from the cup game to take the next three. Porz is in 13th place with only three points and will certainly do everything possible to catch up.
